Welcome to St Peter’s Church, Ravenshead and the Abbey Chapel.
Welcome to St Peter’s Ravenshead, a modern parish dating back 60 years, with a church of unusual design built in the heart of the village 40 years ago, on Sheepwalk Lane. You may be thinking of visiting us or you may be looking for the Church that God is calling you to. Either way, we hope that you will find a welcome here and a sense of the presence of God.
We are now working in partnership with Newstead Abbey Chapel. This is the former chapter house of the Abbey, the foundation of which goes back to the Thirteenth Century. At the Abbey there are traditional services, using the Book of Common Prayer liturgies established in the Church of England in 1662. All are welcome to attend – tell the staff at the gate that you’re going to church, they will wave you in without payment, you park in the public car park and walk down to the Abbey. Go round the Abbey on the right hand side then bear left along the rear and you’ll reach the entrance to the cloister and chapel.
At St. Peter’s we hold a variety of services including both traditional services with robed choir and organ and modern services with digital projection and a music group. All the major festivals are, of course, celebrated.
